Each case is different. Some cases with clear liability and clear damages can be resolved without filing a lawsuit, or even coming close to a courthouse. Others are different, maybe there is an issue with establishing liability against the person who caused the injury.
Filing a lawsuit and going to court are not things to be afraid of. Insurance companies routinely look at lawsuits to see if the attorney asking them for money actually litigates their cases. We’ve dealt with a number of insurance companies, and filed lawsuits or litigated claims against global corporations (Ford, McDonalds, Burger King, Southwest Airlines, educational institutions, Chicago Transit Authority, and Rockford Mass Transit Authority).
We’re not afraid to fight a case and use the judicial system to pursue justice on behalf of our clients.
Our clients are always welcome to attend any, and every hearing we have on their case. Whether it’s for simply letting the Judge know we have served the other party with a written complaint, or if we’re just scheduling depositions, or written discovery matters, many house-keeping or routine dates do not require a client to ever be present in court.
If a court date requires a client to be present we can help prepare even the most nervous and apprehensive client on what to expect, how things work in the courtroom, and walk them through step-by-step what will happen when we are in court for them. We’ve even taken clients to the courtroom on a different date when their case isn’t on the docket, so they can see the room while empty, and get a good mental image of how things look, and how things will work when it’s time to argue their case.
We are aware that the idea of court can make people nervous, but rest assured, that we have guided plenty of clients throughout the court process and we are here to help you as well.
